Creative Content: Song Runaway Mustang

Driving down each other highway, running fast as I can, trying to make it to heaven. Wish I was a better man.  I broke down in your system, the question would I believe? Persecuted by conviction, can't see what's in front of me. Can anybody tell me why? I'm a runaway mustang, makes sure no one follows me. Sometimes it's good to be lost, feeling found is the strangest thing.  I tried to kill desire, but now I'm put as fire that fuels a fire and it's fire that's taking me. Can anybody tell me why?

Why Marshall McKellar selected the song for this episode

As for why I chose this song in reading the brief summary of this episode and these guests that you have on today. I mean, there's only one song I could think that I would want to share is this song, Runaway Mustang. I want to share it because it's difficult for me to talk about or promote or even really share music that I originated or that I wrote.  And unfortunately, there's quite a bit of that out there. But this song is unique to me because it was originally or its original form was written by one of my most beloved friends, John Martin Davis, many years ago. And he never ended up finishing it or recorded, you know, fully producing it and releasing it.  And so it sat on the back burner of his life for many years. And it was one of my favorite songs he ever wrote because I the way that he expressed the sense of longing and yearning for belonging in life, that to me, universal human experience of feeling like there's a piece missing or multiple pieces missing in life. And some of the that yearning and desire that drives us to find, to search and search until we find that sense of belonging and that sense of home and community in life that spoke to me and always has.
