Lauren Green is the vice president of publishing with Ballast Books and its children’s book imprint, Blue Balloon Books. Lauren studied English writing and mass communication at Rockhurst University, where she graduated as valedictorian of her class.

A professional writer and editor with over a decade of experience, Lauren published her first book,Bell Jar Butterfly, in June 2024. She spends much of her free time advocating for mental health and singing along to Ella and Louis. She also enjoys listening to true crime podcasts, rereading the Harry Potter series for the zillionth time, and helping authors achieve their dream of publishing a book. Lauren lives in St. Louis, Missouri, with her husband, two daughters, and Australian shepherd, Harper Lee.

Lauren Green

Jackie Haley is a nationally recognized, award-winning author.  She's appeared on CBS, NBC, Fox News, among many other major media outlets and traveled the country representing her books.

Her first novel, Crystal Beach (2012) received many powerful endorsements, including one from the largest newspaper in her state, the Des Moines Register.  In 2017, Jackie published her sequel, Truce Island increasing her following across the country.  Shortly after, she wrote a true and inspiring story, Brenda's Wish, released in 2020, winning national awards, receiving several excellent endorsements including two national foundations and many incredible reviews.

Jackie has a passion for writing, making a difference, and helping others. With over 15 years of experience, she launched Dream to Author to help aspiring writers become published, providing assistance through online training and coaching services.

Mikesch Muecke, Chief Editor at Culicidae Press, holds degrees from the University of Florida and Princeton University. When he’s not knee-deep into publishing, he teaches design studios, history/theory seminars, and courses on digital applications in the Architecture Department at Iowa State University. As polytekton he maintains a design/build practice and continues to create at every scale, from photographs and posters via books and pamphlets to full scale interior designs and small buildings.
